Postponed Earth Day 2023

April 22, 2023 @ 9:30 AM 12:00 PM

Saturday, April 22, 2023, marks the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events in more than 192 countries.

Earth Day @ LECC – The Green Committee Wants You!

When: April 22, at the Clubhouse 9:30 AM to Noon

Please join us on Saturday, April 22 at the Clubhouse. We have big plans for the LECC club grounds this year, but we cannot do it alone. The branch cleanup from the ice storm had over 30 Members join us. It was remarkable. Do you have any children or grandchildren that need volunteer hours? Send them down!

Give us whatever amount of time that you can. One hour, two hours or 15 minutes; Many Hands Make Light Work.

We intend to resume the spring cleanup that was suspended during the renovation and the covid years.

 Bring:

  • Shovels
  • Rakes
  • Gloves
  • 4 Wheelers & Trailers to transport the debris

Areas of concern & focus:

  • Clean debris from garden beds
  • Pick up branches in the area that is being cut by our new Big Dog Mower.
  • Weed playground
  • Weed volleyball court
  • Clean up the pavilion area

That should keep us busy. We hope to see you there.

In Windsor – Exhibitor Registration is Now Open

  • Registration for 2023 booths is now open.

Exhibitors, please be aware of a slight modification to this year’s registration procedure. Please complete both the Earth Day 2023 Registration Form and the 2023 Vendor, Exhibitor, Performer Waiver and send to emp@citywindsor.ca by email. The contact information will be forwarded to Windsor’s Central Booking, who will contact you individually, thus avoiding the possibility of waiting on hold for payment. We hope this makes everything smoother.

This year, we are also asking you to submit summary details of your booth, particularly any planned activities. This will help minimize duplication of activities as well as help the organizers navigate attendees the day of the event.

Zero Waste Event

Each year, we strive to make Earth Day better, and this year we are upping our standards and aiming for a zero waste event.

What will this look like?

There will be a central drop-off station (similar to what you see at the Devonshire Mall food court), where dedicated volunteers will be sorting recyclables and compostables. There will also be volunteer runners picking up waste dropped at waste stations throughout the event area.

However, in order for this to be successful, we are asking all vendors to ensure that any waste generated be recyclable or compostable. Please find attached a letter outlining acceptable products:
